Always Three

I met a wise and pretty girl,

her lookswhich were so kind,

but little did I know

her beauty was her mind.

How many live at home with you?

May I come and see?

We are three, she replied.

Ma, Papa and little me.

And where are Ma and Papa now?

Ma’s inside and Papas out,

he went beyond the mortal realm,

but with us he is no doubt.

Then lives here only two!

Papas gone, Can't you see?

Nay, you're wrong.

Always three, Ma, Papa and little me.

He’s in Ma’s heart and in mine too.

Together we three shall always be

for only his body did he depart

I smiled as I saw it clearly.
