I've done lovely touristy things.

1. Damour river, and swam in ice cool water a secret must for any visit. To find it I think you'll probably need someone to point it out to you(Thank you Tariq).

2. Jeita grotto, (limestone cavern, much better than stump cross i assure you). Another very understated site in guidebooks but very popular Lebanese site.

3. Gemanyze, Beirut - a catalogue of miniature bars full of character. Torino's is the best one.

4. Huge mosque, made of stunning sandstone, if only they cared about the other new buildings - breeze blocks and plaster. For any civil engineers this place is a seismic hazard zone like no other - no symmetry, no regard for geotechnics and soft storey galore!

5. Shot off to Tyre for a day, some nice ruins, tomorrow is the big one though, Baalbeck (see next post)

I've met a theologian and two anthropologists which is great for a bit of Timmy debate.

We all live under the same Lebanese sky relates to the current government trying to unite the country and the political parties, its on loads of billboards. I think that only will time will tell on that though.

The future plan i think is to head north on Monday, to Byblos and Tripoli and then spend a couple things from there in Leb. Then move on to Tartus in Syria.
